Welcome to Berrrlin

Welcome to Berrrlin

It suddenly became clear to me that Berlin was going to be the place where I have to take that next step.

I’ve been contemplating getting out of debt for some time and my first step would be to stop using that credit card. Well somehow, from deep within my psyche, the action manifested. I lost the card in Berlin after purchasing four subway tickets. I guess I knew I wouldn’t really stop using it otherwise.

And all I had was about 5 euros and absolutely no other money or anything to fall back on. Just the flight ticket back, 4 subway tickets, and well another 4 euros I wanted to save for an uber ride home from the airport (that didn’t happen I got coconut milk instead).

The news about recent diet changes I’ve had me pretty twisted (as they say in rap songs OK). It took me about a week to adjust to the new reality.

In Berlin I was happy simply going the bio store I found nearby, I loved how eco friendly it was, and the amazing subway system. Honestly that was enough. I didn’t feel the need to see how and where people suffered and all the ugly details associated with that. Next time I figure, I’ll go with someone I love, so we can support each other when we look at the ugly things humans did to each other not too long ago.

The club scene I missed is also supposed to be amazing. And the bratwurst sausages on the bun, I stayed away from most of that stuff. Got one at the grocery store, just so I can say I had a bratwurst in Berlin.

Speaking of Berrrlin, the weather was atrocious and I walked a lot as I had a limited number of subway tickets and didn’t want to cheat, even though no one checked. I figured, if I start falling over, then I may hop on the subway a la gratis. It didn’t come to that, and the pain I experienced in the following days won’t let me forget for some time.

I was only actually sad about not being able to go to a yin yan yoga class five minutes away from my house. But I got over that.

Instead I went on a ‘free’ walking tour of Berlin and left midway through after I realized the guide was trying to hide he was a tour guide when we entered the history museum and the very nice and friendly lady told us it was all free this weekend only.

I went to that museum two days in a row and finally learned the most relevant points of our recent history. It was truly eye opening (considering my profession lol).

I had the sudden realization that I could just learn it today, right now, rather than planning to do so some time in the future – as I normally do.

And I suppose that was the lesson of that trip, to start doing what you planned on right NOW. Living now, in the moment, happily, with whatever resources you have. Not worrying about doing it all, or missing out, or about anything at all.

Tomorrow can turn into next week, next month, year, decade… Sometimes there is a solid reason to hold off, but remember time doesn’t know that. live.now.carefre
